Questions about which nation would you join... ect. Where as the Boondocks touches on much more debatable issuses. Topics that require much MORE discussion. Such as racism and politics.

I understand the popularity factor. But theres a reason Boondocks is not as popular, and I think its because its so controversial. However, because of that fact I think it makes for a better quality of conversation than Avatar is capable of.
I totally agree with you. If you compare the both series Boondocks gives you more to talk about than many of the series here in the forum. However most of the member here are realy young and must of them don't really seen the controversial issues that the series talks about.

and back on the definition of anime. If you really take a look at the definition of anime in Wiktionary. If you look at the japanese definition it says "Abbreviation of Animation". The only reason we (western people) call it anime is because that is what the japanese call cartoons. We are the ones assuming that if is from japan then is anime but in reality that is how the japanese call all cartoons.

If this was the case that only japanese cartoon were anime then what would we call Robothec, Transformers, IGPX Immortal Grand Prix, Les Misérables: Shōjo Cosette, and many more.

Screw Wikipedia and the Wikitionary! They're made by users, not mods and not by any other kind of researchers or grammar specialists. For all you know, some kindergartener could be writing that crap!

    Haha you've gotta point there!

Personally though, I think Anime is purely Japanese animation, but some dictionary sites put it as a style of animation and others just put that it is just Japanese animation.

I doesn't really matter to me, because I love the Boondocks and (though I hate their often cheesy nickelodeon jokes) Avatar.

IMO, as long as you enjoy the shows, it shouldn't really matter.

It's been said several times before in the past, but I still feel like it needs to be clarified: Yes, anime is considered a style of animation, but in Japanese all it means is animation. Nothing more, nothing less. Therefore, ANYTHING could be anime if you really wanted it to be. But there's a bit of anal-retentiveness in us all, hence this debate. LOL. ^_^

Boondocks has a more anime style to it now. I should be an anime IMO. I don't watch Avatar. There r alot of animes for adults & teens. Just because boondocks is for older audiences doesn't mean it can't be counted as an anime.

Its not counted as an anime because under the English definition, an anime is an Animated show or film made in Japan with a distinct artistic style. Since this is English forum, we go by the English definition.

Boondocks was made in the United States, so there for it is an American Cartoon.

Lastly, if this thread keeps repeating itself and no new discussion starts, I'll close it

Ah, but most in this forum seem to go by the Japanese definitions of most things Japanese.

But I still definitely agree with you.

I see it as if it's anime it's anime. No matter if it's Americanized or not. Either way you look at it. It's anime.
