Re: Video Game Combinations?

i dont know i dont really like that idea. every company has its own unique quality to it and if you put them together then they wont.
And i like being able to have different games for different consoles and stuff and plus the companies get more money because if you want to play a certain game but you only have a ps2 you would have to guy it for that console. so i say keep it as is.

So you consider this idea to be faulty, rather then just messing up the reputation of the company owners that do not realize that Sony has been investing or i should say producing more quality systems, and as "Eria" mentions that it is loosing money rather then earning more, which take blu-ray on the top of the line agains HD- Microsoft.

Re: Video Game Combinations?

well i honestly cant say that i think a merge between two fueding companies is a good idea.

however perhaps a game mashup between two companies would be a good idea. For instance, i'd love to see a mix between Dynasty Warriors and Mortal Kombat.

That may be an excellent idea into forming companies, although i am not sure with other possibilities. With what i am looking, because i was really wondering into what would happen when Sony and Microsoft would be merged into one whole system, would it turn out perfect or really disliking?
*this is what i truly needed to know of*

They'd still lose to Nintendo, that's what would happen![/fanboyism]

But more to the point, if you focus less on the business aspects of it, I think you'd see very little difference in a PS360. After all, much of their libraries overlap, since it is very easy to port games from one to the other. The graphics are identical(Although the 360 runs them at 60 frames per second..[/Sony hate]), and the only big difference in controls is placement of the analog and d-pad.

Really, the only big thing that is exclusive to each system is first/second party games. But since Microsoft doesn't have too many of those, the addition of those games to the PS3 may not even be noticeable.

So I don't think it'd be perfect or horrible, it'd be pretty much the same.

not only that but it would spark less competition. if two of the main consoles merged, then its simply a two man race between MicroSony and Nintendo. And when the two big companies merge (theoretically, mind you) then they practically have nintendo beat anyway, console wise.

and with just two consoles, whats the point of console wars? ther ewould always be one clear winner. a third party would have to step up. Like Sega. if sega became the third console in this hypothetical situation then maybe things would liven up.

to put it simply, its not a bad idea, just perhaps a bit boring.

A good point, and to elaborate, most worrysomely(I wonder if that's a word..), we are starting to see this occuring in video game software already. A while back there was a merger between Blizzard(WoW, Diablo, Starcraft, etc..), Vivendi(No games come to mind immediately..), and Activision(Tony Hawk, Guitar Hero, 90% of crap movie tie in games). Worth $18 billion right now, it's the hugest game company out there. However, not to be one-upped, EA is gunning after Take Two(GTA, etc...), and is currently trying to do a hostile takeover by buying 51% of their stocks. It hasn't happened yet, but it's almost inevitable at this point.

I think these mergers really stifle creativity, and give people more reason to be lazy. For example, if the PS3 and 360 merged, with Wii as the only competition, there'd be less reason to push graphical presentation in PS360 games, since well, your only competition isn't using the most powerful of hardware. With Sony and Microsoft apart, they have to keep trying to out-do each other in that department in the brutal fight for consumer dollars.

So, there is no way from these two originals into being a good console then?
After all the companies wants all the consumer to comment about on how to improve the software, etc. I really thinkg it might be helpful into having more views into how program runs so different about it. Also how would this two different things would turn out different into both of you in a boring place?
