What Is Your Favorite Song? (Must Explain Why)
ANI MA'AMIN
ANI, ANI MA'AMIN
BE'EMUNA SHLEMA
B'VIAT HAMASHIACH
ANI, ANI MA'AMIN
V'AF AL PI SHEYTMAHEMEIA
IM KOL ZEH ACHAKE LO
BECHOL YOM SHYAVO,
ANI, ANI MA'AMIN
Transl:
I Believe with perfect faith in the Messiah's coming.
And I will wait even if the Messiah is delayed.
On the front cover of the song this is what it had to say:
The song, Ani Ma'amin, is an ancient Hebrew affirmation of faith. The text, which is centuries old, can be interpreted as follows: I believe in God, in a greater truth, and in things greater than this world in spite of all that has happened. I believe that the Messiah will comeand he will find me waiting. No matter how long he tarried, no matter how long he tarries, no matter how long he delays his coming, I will continue to believe. No matter what the future holds, I believe.
The song has had a rich history in the heart of Isreal. It gained its greatest significance, however, during the Holocaust. Thousands of Jews entered the gas chamber singing this very song, proclaiming allegiance to God until their last breath. Eyewitness accounts tell us that the music woud derescendo to silence only as the gas choked the singers.
"No matter how long he tarired, he will find me waiting." Todaywe sing
Ani Ma'amin out of respect for the faith for which so many millions of children died. Today we sing Ani Ma'amin, knowing that if we join hands, hearts and voices and sing the songs of those who suffer, we will learn that, while wemay be different, we are all truly beautiful. If we, the children of the world, value all other children as beautiful people, we can prevent such atrocities from happening again in our lifetimes.
This is why we sing. This is what WE believe.
This song is my favorite we had to sing it for a concert at school and I feel in love with it. I can feel the depth even though there is little to the words it's so strong. As a decendent of an immagrant from Germany it was past down through the family to never let the ones that lost their lives during the Holocaust truely die. Also when we talked about it in class it was a big deal to me. This song touches my heart in so many levels.
Please share your favorite song, the lyrics, what you like about it and what you think it means plus if you know what they meant when they wrote the song add that too.
Re: What Is Your Favorite Song? (Must Explain Why)
My favorite song would have to be:
The Garden of Everything: by Maaya Sakamoto feat. Steve Conte (from some movie from raXephon)
--> Da Lyrics <--
^_^ it mean so much to me becuz before my Darling and i met, this is the song that would cheer him up when he was down; this song would give him hope in love again. He had lost the song while he was with his ex-girlfriend (>.< really shows cuz she was such a... anyway)...
^__^ but he found it again when he got with me... and when i first heard it... it felt familiar... like all our hope in one little song...
the best thing is that it's a duet... songs like that should always be a duet <3!!!
p.s.: @Ky-lyrra--> that song is awesome! i could see why it would be so special to you!
Re: What Is Your Favorite Song? (Must Explain Why)
I agree songs are much better when they are done in a duet. The song you like was awsome to read. I will have to go and find it on Youtube and listen to it.
Re: What Is Your Favorite Song? (Must Explain Why)
Hmmm, this is very difficult. One of my favorite songs would have to be Give Me One Reason by Tracy Chapman.
Quote:
Give me one reason to stay here - and Ill turn right back around
Give me one reason to stay here - and Ill turn right back around
Because I dont want leave you lonely
But you got to make me change my mind
Baby I got your number and I know that you got mine
But you know that I called you, I called too many times
You can call me baby, you can call me anytime
But you got to call me
Give me one reason to stay here - and Ill turn right back around
Give me one reason to stay here - and Ill turn right back around
Because I dont want leave you lonely
But you got to make me change my mind
I dont want no one to squeeze me - they might take away my life
I dont want no one to squeeze me - they might take away my life
I just want someone to hold me and rock me through the night
This youthful heart can love you and give you what you need
This youthful heart can love you and give you what you need
But Im too old to go chasing you around
Wasting my precious energy
Give me one reason to stay here - and Ill turn right back around
Give me one reason to stay here - and Ill turn right back around
Because I dont want leave you lonely
But you got to make me change my mind
Baby just give me one reason - give me just one reason why
Baby just give me one reason - give me just one reason why I should stay
Because I told you that I loved you
And there aint no more to say
The song is about leaving someone you really dont want to leave, and hoping that they'll realize they want you to stay as well. I think the vocals are superb; Tracy's voice is sensual and very unique. Many of her songs are beautiful, but this one touches my heart.

At this point "Dreams (Shattered Sacrament)"
Why? I wrote all the music, 2 friends of mine wrote the few lyrics there are in it and they also sung them on the demo I'm just finishing up on my laptop with acid pro. Sound really great, thought some of the tone is a bit flat and maybe distant at times, cannot tweak the two songs any better to get rid of that but maybe it is just me.
Normally I'm an instrumental guitarist, I like not having to deal with band members. I played all guitar on this 2 track demo, bass and the drums are created by a neat piece of hardware by Roland. "Dreams" is one song that just needed lyrics and well, with my female friends voice and guy friend doing secondary bg vocals it just sounds alot better. She managed to sing it well enough to make the song very good, just about as I heard it in my head too. Mostly used my friends studio this time around as I've been on and off the road a while now here lately, was more convenient.
Was alot of fun to write and play, got some serious solos and shred times in there in tasteful places so I'm about ecstatic over it. Too bad my area doesn't dig the type of music I play, and I don't trust the net to keep my copyright, too many pirates and rippers out there.
But yeah...:joker:

Kaskade - Be Still
It’s nice when the heart
The heart is beating faster
Feeling alive when there is wanting
Always the same
I jump too quickly
Be still my soul
It’s love so serious
The more we think
The less we know
It’s love mysterious
Holding tight
When we should let go
Now that this love
Has overcome me
Now that this fire
Is burning bright
All of these words
Seem just beyond my reasoning
Be still my soul
It’s love so serious
The more we think
The less we know
It’s love mysterious
Holding tight
When we should let go
Be still my soul
Just let it go
I like it because the rhythm and beat touch my soul and I love the message that comes with it.

favourite song? there's so many... off the top of my head:
Leonardo's Bride - Even When I'm Sleeping
Why? Because it's one of those songs that are sung from the heart and it just sounds so amazingly beautiful. it may be a little mainstream but i don't mind it. also it's one of those songs you can just have on loop forever and ever and ever.

My favorite song is Cold(but I'm still here) by Evans Blue. I love the beat and the lyrics are really interesting. I listen to it all the time and make AMV's with it. I think I might overuse/overlisten to it but I can't get enough. I just started listening to Evans Blue but absolutely love their music.
