Ok. My favorite is FFVIII for the PS1. I love all the Final Fantasy's I've played but that one has a special place in my heart. Enough so I've played it probably 7 or 8 times. The characters just really speak to me, even the annoying ones. They remind me a lot of when I was that age, of myself and my friends. I have played many Square Enix games over the years, and it is very hard to have to pick a favorite, so I will just have to list my top three.
3rd-Einhander
When this game first came out, I was a little uneasy about it. I thought to myself, "Squaresoft, what are you doing! You guys only make RPG's, not Shooters!" Well, after a few months, I finally decided to borrow a copy from a friend for a few days. Well, what I saw impressed me. The game was very well made. The graphics, the sound, even the music was done to perfection. Add to the fact that it was fairly challenging and It took more then one sitting to completely finish it, it more then earns its place in my top three.
2nd-Final Fantasy Tactics
In my personal opinion, this is the best Final Fantasy game ever made. The game is different from the mainstream Final Fantasy games as it was a Strategy/RPG, meaning that in order to win, you had to carefully plan out what you going to do often several turn in advance. The inclusion of political intrigue as a major part of the game was something never done in a Squresoft game. Now that it is being remake for the PSP, you should buy it and play it if you can get your hands on a copy.
1st-Chrono Trigger
This really should not come a surprise. This game is one of the very best, if not the best game ever made. Almost everything about it was new, original, and never seen before in an RPG. From the multiple endings, the memorable characters, and the novel fact that you could see the enemy beforehand and choose wither or not to engage them in battle was one of the many reasons this game is on my top three list.
