I like the Pervy Sage myself. He is one of the Legendary Sanin and he also trained one of the strongest ninja who've ever lived, being that of the Fourth Hokage! Jiraiya is in my top five favorite shinobi.click to show spoiler
I believe pervy sage is a key character in the growth of Naruto, he trained Naruto's father the Fourth, so who else would be a better sensie, than the man who trained his father. No one else could fit in that role, not Kikashi, not Tsunade, not nobody!Scorch

i love jiraiya i was so mad went he died, it should have not happen or that what it think, he was great guy and naruto love him very much

jiraiya is or has the Yoda trade while the teacher lets other see the playful side of him & he acts like Brock at times around women, But his teaching are cool, because he takes a simplist them like a ball of dough to help nautro with resinggun ( i know i Spelled wrong) that was in gensis back in the 1st naurto, and in shuppen they could not have gotted though bells away from kukensi with out jiraiya's help.
Think about the 1st and 2nd epsoides of shuppen remeber the book
that is why he is one of my fav's
