Naruto is also a kind of kamaboko (basically steamed seafood) with a pink whirlpool design in the middle that goes very well with miso soup as well as ramen.
I love my girlfriend.
You'll see a lot of food references in names for anime's. I laughed pretty hard when I found out what Sasami meant.
Gohan = Rice in Japanese and yes Goku = Flying theres alot of references like Arrianna said.

Naruto can mean "maelstrom", and is also the name for a sliced stick of Kamaboko with a pink whirlpool design in the middle that is used as a topping for Ramen, and a maelstrom is a powerful whirlpool; a large, swirling body of water originating from Norway. Also, Kamaboko is a variety of Japanese processed seafood products, not only one type of fish, called surimi, in which various white fish are pureed, formed into distinctive loaves, and then steamed until fully cooked and firm in texture.
