I liked it from the beginning. But my only problem with it is that its run-on.
It started out good, then faded, then was good, then I got bored. I get the feeling Masashi doesn't know his own ending.

yes it is confusing if you dont start at the beginning and some episodes are lame.
but once you get it, its freaking AWSOME. the action, story, everything, if you like anime
at all then naruto should in your top five

I wouldn't go that far, but it's an okay series. Like I said, I intially liked it a lot, but I felt it was simply too long, and certain things made no sense.
I also hated the filler episodes because of how many there were and how the quality decreased so much. Dubbing and censorship also drove me away.
But for the series it self its alright. I don't hate it or love it. Because a long or complicated plot doesn't mean the story is great. Another thing that bugs me is how long the fights take. a few episodes at least, and for one reason. Every single time they make a move, they have to stop and explain what the hell they just did, when we saw it!
Why not just beat the crap out of each other and explain afterwards?

i dont know what's the big deal either, but i suppose, everyone is interested about whats on the next episode when they see one, i've also watched it though i liked it, people are a bit too crazy and most probably, sasuke is very appealing.

there are some who like naruto simply for the "fad" aspect. the ninja headbands, fake kunai knives, obsessively learning EVERY hand seal, etc. But I like it--especially now that i'm just reading the manga chapters--because it's not as kiddish as i thought it was just watching the english sub a long while ago. There are many tragic deaths, and it seems the odds are always stacked up agains Naruto, and also the complex relationship between him and Sasuke--i think that's my favorite aspect, which is why i can't wait for the final freakin battle b/w those two.

I thought it was freaking awesome from the start, and it only got better !

What got me hooked to Naruto had to be Naruto's youthfulness & power.

I mean, c'mon, who cant stand in awe of his awesome nine-tailed demon fox power?

By the way, I have watched Episodes 1-209 of Naruto in order as they aired on Cartoon Network, as well as Movies 1-3 (Cartoon Network), Protect the Waterfall Village Mission OVA/Special (Cartoon Network), and the Konoha Sports Festival OVA (DVD Extra for 1st Movie English Dub).

Thumbs up Re: Naruto - what's the big deal?

The big deal is that even though he is not that skilled or string he lives to always try and never give up! That is the deal!
