I really don’t like the fact that they put a girl for the character of Excel, the character makes the whole story funny because of her clumsiness and silliness, not counting some of her stupidity during mission. And people actually like this!

And it's not so much the character, but the situations that the character is put in. Every episode of 'Excel Saga' spoofs a different genre of Japanese entertainment. If your not familiar with the culture, or even the general history of Anime, a lot of the jokes are simply going to fly over your head...
I never got the feeling that Excel's character demeans women; her stupidity has nothing to do with her being female, and everything to do with her just being...well, stupid. Besides, the only major character in the series that isn't portrayed as an idiot/pervert/weirdo is Misaki Matsuya, and she's far more stereotypical as the cold-hearted witch than Excel could ever be as the over-enthusiastic moron.Quote:

Excel is a great character. She brings life into it. I would love to have a friend like her around. The first episode where she dies like a million times was great. I couldn't stop laughing. Also the one where she comes to America and she tries to talk like us. She's awesome and if they hadn't had picked her I wouldn't had watched it.
