That's just how it is with these shounen stories. First all the lower dudes fight, only after those are all beaten, the big boys get into it. And at an ever lower level, first they all go shikai and only at the end the bankais come in.
Although Hitsugaya should have already been crushed by Halibel.

I've already read it and the manga after it and yes it is momo hinamori! I know she's still a little loco and calls Aizen "captain" still so there ya have it so now sorry to disapoint!
