what makes Evangelion one of the best of all time (if not THE best) is the fact the creators were not affraid to creat the anime as THEY wanted and not how everyone else did.
they decided to create it without any Political correctness and did it in a way that was both controversial and yet surprising mild looking in a way
they did not care about offending any religion, they didn't blink at the idea of young adults being both nude and also controlling the fate of man

This was an awesome anime cuz it is way different than the others i usually see but it keeps you entertained as well as you cant miss a thing otherwise you cant friggin understand whats goin on! >.< oh by the way did anyone get the ending to the second movie? cuz i saw it multiple times and i was still lost!
i believe NGE is brilliant simply because the creator did not worry about offending anyone, if he wanted to use religionous references...HE DID, if he wanted to show a nude character...HE DID, if he wanted to do something outrageous, guess what...HE DID!!!
To start, this anime will always have a place in my heart because it's the first anime I ever saw all of. Sure I saw the ending of Gundam Wing long before it, but I missed about 3/4ths of the series, lol.
A more logical reason would be that the series is just so well-constructed, and the story-telling elements are all executed very well. Extreme care was given to this anime. I also like the fact that the ending to the series makes you think, and the ending is what you percieve it to be.
i like this anime but it's not the best to me,i like this anime because they let you know the facts little by little and on top of that after you reach the last episodes and watch them you realize that you were living in world of lies nothing more nothing less
