Everyone please tell us your favorite NGE character. Be they lilim or angel I got to hear this. My favorite is Rei Ayanami. Why? Well she is beautiful and striking. The design that went into that character perfectly tapped the quiet soul searching waif image. And even though Rei rearly smiles when she does it is beautiful. Plus you can keep quessing what Rei is. Is she an Angel is she a reincarnation of Yui. Or a hybrid. Maybe both. Rei's poem is another reason I love her charcter. I consider that some of the best writting I have read especially in poetry. Out of all the pilots Rei is the only one who interacted with the angels other than fighting. This of course is not counting Tabris since they did not know he was an angel. But she also had interaction with him. When she was interacting with armisael where the angel takes on her form is some of the most well written character development not just in NGE but in anime in general.

Rei is a clone created from remnants of Yui Ikari's cells after she infused with Unit 01 that harbors the soul of Lilith. Simple eh?

My favorite is either Asuka Langley Shikinami, or Kaworu Nagisa. I mean Kaji's pretty awesome because he's a womanizing, cigarette smoking, long haired, badass jerk, but nothing beats the cold hearted-biatch and the apathetic gay guy who comes on too strong in the shower. Hah.

It's surprising to me that I loved the anime so much but wasn't very fond of too many characters in it. My favorite is definitely Misato, to me she seemed to be the most real character. She was also the funniest to me, but could also be serious when she had to.
