Dragon Ball

I was just going over the main characters in Neon Genesis Evangelion. Seems to me, I could only be friends with:

• Misato Katsuragi (Chief of Operations) - sexy and optimistic.
• Ritsuko Akagi (Head of Evangelion) - a switched on woman with good knowledge and confidence.

The others seem to have either a bit of hatred stored up in them or a chip on their shoulder.

Take a quick birds eye view:

• Rei Ayanami (The First Child) - unable to clearly express her emotions. Boring...
• Asuka Langley Soryu (The Second Child) - A sore loser perhaps...
• Shinji Ikari (The Third Child) - unable to relate to others, probably because he wasn't brought up in a loving family.
• Touji Suzuhara (The Fourth Child) - hot headed and doesn't consider others too much.
• Aryouji Kaji (Special Forces) - his intentions are questionable.
• Gendo Ikari (Supreme Commander) - shows hatred to his own son.

So, I wonder if it's just me.

After watching the mythology of Evangelion, it said that Shinji hated Gendu because he was the grown up version of him self and he didn't like what he see's in Gendu.

To be honest i don't blame him for doing so because Gendu's reasons for bringing Shinji to Nerv was "I have a use for you". Perhaps implying that Gendu only see's other people to help his own personal gain so to speak.

or maybe our perspective is different....

i think they make the story is differ with other... hm.. please look at the manga series especially the comments at vol. 1, 2, and 3.

Shinji= Is an emo kid that hates his family and doesn't like to interact with others.

Rei= She is the koolest version of an emo chick. she doesn't like to talk that much and she doesn't to fail in anything that she does.

I think the reasen that the main charaters are strang is becose of there childhood.
Misato lost her parents during second impact.
Rei,s memery was erased.
Asuka,s mother was mentaly ill.
Shinji,s mother died and his father left him.
And there is also somthing wrong with evryone else.
Its just part of the story.

Haha this thread reminds me so much of a saying I've seen somewhere where ppl say evangelion is just about an emo horny teenager and fans who digs deeper than it really is.

Dude its because they are in the apocalyptic world. Everyone in the world is depending on them. If they have one off day. BOOM there goes the human race in third impact. Because we all know that what happened with Rei in End of Eva was just onbe of the possibilities set forth. WE dont know what would have happened if the angels had reached adam OR Lilith. Let alone what would have happened if we fused with them. (humans are the last angel.)ANYWAYS. I think that they have the right to their extremely bad pyshy problems.

The main characters do have problems but, maybe this is digging deeper than it is, maybe they were made to represent real humans. Think of their childhoods and of what is happening in their time. I mean if I had to save the world after a bad childhood I know for sure I wouldn't be a happy-go-lucky person, in the contrary, I would probably go crazy. Just try to put yourself in one of their positions and try to think of how everything would be.

Just a thought.
