OK I understand that Rei is Shinji's mother but the thing I don't get is the big Rei near the end of End of Eva. is she supose to sybolize something or am I missing the whole point of the anime completely.

Rei is actually a clone of Shinji's mother... Now during the TV series, there was a brief flash-back concerning the death of Shinji's mother... and a different episode where Shinji got 'absorbed' by EVA01 where they talk about a previous 'incident' where attempts to reconstitute the pilot failed... It's the presence of the soul of Shinji's mother in EVA01 in the last movie that links these two scenes together...
And this thread belongs in the Spoiler section of the EVA sub-forum...

They said that Ayanami Rei could be a clone of Shinji's mother.
But I do know that Rei is the becomes Eve so in a way, she's everyones mom.................... But then again on the series, it's said that Eve is not the mother of all humans, But the Lillm / Human beings are the offspring of Lillith.
They also mentioned that Lillith cheated on Adam with Satan.
