I have recently finished viewing these episodes and would like to propose a question on 3rd impact.

For what reason did SEELE decide to use the 'Eva series' instead of the 'Angels' to generate 3rd impact?

A friend had suggested differing results. What are your opinions?

Wasen't the purpose of using the Eva series to harness the power of the angels so that man could generate 3rd impact so that all of the human race could be hole again with Lilith.

The 3rd impact was generated to unite all humans into one perfect being. However why is it that SEELE prefered to generate 3rd impact themselves instead of allowing the angels to simply fulfill that goal.

Could it be that they thought they could control 3rd impact?

From what i got from the End of Evangelion SEELE rathered try and control 3rd impact and harness it insteed of the angels,maybe they did not trust the angels to do it for them.

It was inevitable, I believe that SEELE themselves were playing God. That power was too overwhelming anyway. However, if the Third impact didn't occur, In time, history will undoubtibly repat itself.

It is to my understanding that SEELE viewed the current state of the human race as disgusting and had planned to speed up this process using the 3rd Impact as the catalyst. I am still unclear as to what SEELE expected from the Angels concerning a 3rd Impact.

Third Impact is based on what Angel synchronizes with Adam. Whatever Angel comes into contact with Adam would fuse them together, returning the universe to it's origin, a single entity, becoming the only existence in the universe. If done under the right conditions then SEELE's plan for rebuilding humanity would require that it be a Lilim, or Lilith herself coming into contact with Adam, aided by the Lance of Longinuss or a subsequent proxy, as well as Unit 01 considering it is the strongest offspring of Lilith, as to ensure that it would be the collective concsiousness of humans/Lilim that is the sole existence after the Third Impact.

By doing this it would in essence return humanity to what it once was, a pool of primordial soup, from which we could repeat our evolution, and better ourselves. Rather than what would happen if say, Zereul were to come into contact with Adam, where every other evolution of Angel besides Zereul would be destroyed.

well look at the result of the angels in second impact. When angels impact it destroys things. It literally creates a dead sea. That is why they engineered the angels, to bring about collective consious not annihalation such as the angels impact would have done. In fact the second impact almost did end humanity.
