I think Keanu has to be given the benefit of the doubt after his success with the Matrix. For such a hated actor he sure has done some great flicks (Matrix, Bill and Teds, etc). That being said, I am still not sold on him as Spike. Pretty decent tidbit of information on this topic in this blog entry.

We shall see how it all pans out. I think their choices for the rest of the cast will determine the success of the movie to Anime fans (Hollywooders will love it regardless but us Anime folk tend to be a bit more picky)

so far i've heard that keanu reeves is going to be in it but that's just about all i've heard from it! i'm really excited though because i love cowboy bebop! i was realy sad when it ended but the ending was great! i've heard that the live actian movie will have something to do with some kind of red eye drug or something? i'm not sure though that's just about all i know!

I heard that Keanu Reeves was going to play Spike. But Reeves to me might not make the cut to be truthful. He pretty much has the look for it, but I dont think he will get the personality of Spike down >.> But Hopefully the movie will be a hit like the anime was.

my main problem is that Keanu Reeves' acting kinda of well...sucks.
its the same crap over and over again. he's hasn't made a good movie since the first matrix, and well...
i think theyre all too old. everyone in cowboy bebop has a youth appearance. even jet isnt 60. he should look like 40-something.

The only actor they've confirmed so far is Keanu Reeves. As for the story, we wont be seeing Jet or Faye because the movie will take place before Spike escapes the syndicate and meets up with Jet. They said that the story will focus more on Spike and the whole "redeye" situation. So it's likely we'll see Julia and Vicious.
