Spike's fighting style - Jeet Kune Do
Jeet Kune Do is the style of fighting that Spike uses, which was developed by Bruce Lee.
It's an amazing style of fist fighting and anyone that has seen Spike fight will know what I mean. You can also take a look at the way Bruce Lee fights too, and it's very similar. Thrilling stuff!
Re: Spike's fighting style - Jeet Kune Do
i agree qwth you on this i have seen all his movie's with the game of death being my favorite, and it is cool how simuler he stands and so much more,
i bet he feel's a bit pressured because of who he is studying after.
Re: Spike's fighting style - Jeet Kune Do
I think it's cool how Spike's hero is Bruce Lee. I remember seeing a poster or a billboard of Bruce Lee in on one of the episodes in Cowboy Bebop. I think it was sometime during the last episode ...can't recall exactly where. He moves like water.

It was in ep #3, "Honky Tonk Women" (Faye's introductory ep). Spike and Jet are in a casino, and Spike walks past a giant screen playing a Bruce Lee movie.
Re: Spike's fighting style - Jeet Kune Do
Now I'm going to have to inteject here.
Jeet Kune Do is not really a way to fight, it's more like principles you can apply to the fighting style you already have.
Spike fights exactly like Bruce Lee (even down to the mannerisms) so he probably learned Chinese martial arts.
Re: Spike's fighting style - Jeet Kune Do
If you read Bruce Lee's book he clearly states that Jeet Kune Do is its own martial arts style, Bruce wanted to create the ultimate martial arts style by combining the best techniques and moves of all the other fighting disciplines

Sure sure, but it was also Bruce who said that techniques are different for everyone.
e.g. One person might be light, and is a good kicker while another person might be big and bulky. The same techniques can't be used effectively by everyone.
Therefore, everyone must find their own way of fighting so that they are fluid and feel good doing it.
Jeet Kune Do is the precursor of the -now popular- MMA.

That may be Hassun but I'm afraid I have to correct you. In the US at least Jeet Kune Do is a recognized martial arts style.
Wu - Chinese Martial Arts Quote:
Juet Kune Do has been elected and accepted into the “Black Belt Hall of Fame” in America. This is the first time when a recently developed form of martial art is nationally accepted.
As much as Bruce Lee is probably rolling in his grave. But it is not to surprising when you consider that there is not a style we know of know that didn't branch from one or more others.
