yeah, he died,and the sad thing is that he merely gave up on life, now that Julia was dead and all.

EDIT: its not a dumb question, it was a big question mark for years, but the creator finally stated that spike was dead when he was approached to add more to the cowboy bebop series due to its popularity.

There is some contention about whether or not Spike actually died, although it has nothing to do with the movie. At the end of the series, when Spike falls over after his battle with Vicious, it's never actually stated that he's dead. The director himself states that he left Spike's fate inconclusive.

I've been gone for awhile but.
In my opinion spike gave up on life.
Still I reviewed some on magazines and the director and creator both say it's undecided so the fans will ownder.
Man they know how to make me think.
I hope anyone who reads this comes u pwith thier own conclusion.

Well this is somewhat an old topic but ive just recently finished the bebop series . I don't think spike died , The main heads the had things to do with the show have left it unsaid wether he did or did not and usually when they say that it's because there's a chance they will bring him back in some form ,Even though its been stated that bebop is done , shows have a way of comming back eventually despite what they said when the series wrapped , I don't see another series coming anytime soon but there may be another movie wich would most likley take place after the 26th episode .

Theres no way to have another bebop show or movie without spike so if either of those ever come to fruition it wouldn't be very hard to say he didn't die , They can say it was to leave it up to the viewers wether he died or not but not actually saying he's dead or saying he's not hints that he isn't also faye , jet , ed and ein are clearly still alive .

Even though the show spanned 2 seasons wich is longer then alot of anime shows do it felt rushed in the last few episodes , julia appearing for 30 seconds then being killed things like that felt forced . So hoefully in some way bebop where it is now will be continued , Having them as bounty hunters leaves alot of room for more stories to tell .

A long winded way of saying From what ive read about the series the director etc i dont think spike is dead.

he died. the indian dude gave jet the speech on how everyone has a star and it fades when they die. you see a star fade away at the end of the credits. hes dead, alright.

Wasn't that some previous chapter of that's added after the credits? I got this bad habit of stopping playing at the ending credits *whacks self*
I have been thinking he should be dead, but now I'm thinking about it to give a right answer here and I'm changing my mind. He could well be alive.
Let's consider what happened:
- He killed Vicious and was just injured. And probably not the worse injury he's received either in the series or the film.
- He walks all the way down to the gates of the skycrapper from the upper levels, so that's quite the distance to be dead wounded.
- Reaching those stairs he's surrounded by all those henchmen. Vicious' henchmen.
- He can well find he's not in shape anymore to fight or run his way out of all that. I say his fall is not his death, he lets himself fall out of exhaustion and lack of hope to get away.
- The henchmen should know a living Spike means a dead Vicious.

So the question to answer is: Without their leader, those men would revenge (or merely punish) Vicious death shooting Spike on the ground or would not care any longer and leave?


P.S. - D'uh! Forgot to check dates, I rarely check post dates. Anyway considering it's a two thread section I would imagine it's the kind of part where the older than two weeks thread post would not be that much of an issue?

That could have easily been Vicious's star. I also believe that Spike didn't die, in the CB movie the wounds he gets from Vincent on that Rail Train seemed to be far worst than anything that happened when he went after Vicious. Wheather or not he lived or died there probably will never be anymore bebop.
