    Re: american anime

I don't see what's wrong with it. I find companies making series in an anime style no different from people making comics in a manga style. I mean, imitation is a good form of flattering, right? ^^

Saying that the anime style should stay in Japan and the 'American' style should stay in America is no different from saying "Keep the Eastern ways/customs/practices/items in the east and keep the Western ways/customs/practices/items in the west!" ^^0 You shouldn't accept some things and not accept others without a logical reason aside from "copy cat"!!

My only problem with some 'American anime' (though I really should say "Non-Japanese anime" since it's not all from America) is the same problem I have with some American cartoons. They're stereotypical, the characters don't have a personality, the plot devices are overused... =_=

    Re: american anime

I dont care if it's "american" or "japanese" as long as it's good it doesn't really matter. I mean yea some of the "american" anime is bad, but it doesn't mean all "japanese" anime are all good.

    Thanks lifeforce! (:

The first anime series to come out was Robotech which was a horribly butchered mashup of three seperate anime series, The Super Dimension Fortress Macross, Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross, and Genesis Climber Mospeada. Speed Racer was just the first actual successful anime series to hit the States. Robotech and Macross were the true pioneers. And then there was the second incarnation of Astro Boy. After that and the releases of AKIRA, Ghost in the Shell, and Vampire Hunter D, the popularization of anime was complete.

Anyway... It's not really stealing. Like they say, imitation is the best form of flattery. Many mangakas of today have developed their own art style by influence of some other artist. For example, Masashi Kishimoto of Naruto fame, Kubotite of Bleach fame, and Eiichiro Oda of One Piece all developed their art styles from Akira Toriyama. Toriyama of Dragon Ball fame had some or a lot of influence to all three of these artists. Eiichiro Oda actually started his career working under the mangaka for Rurouni Kenshin.
    I love my girlfriend.
