Thread: Is anime becoming more Hentai to bridge the gap between the two?

Sex has been with anime for ages. Might I remind you of:

Evangelion? Misato and Kaji got it on, not to mention that tidbit at the end with Gendo and Rei, tell me that wasn't provocative.

Akira had a partial rape scene

Ninja Scroll had several sex scenes and a rape scene

Wicked City had nearly as much sex as LA Blue Girl, yet is classified as an anime film.

Almost everyone here thinks that sex shown is a bad thing, some is for comical purpose and some are for more serious affect.

So? That was appropriate. Plus you don't see jack, it is just intended. Hentai is when you see every detail. As for your topic, no. It solely depends on the producer decision for the fanservice, eye candy etc.

i completley agree with zerogravity.

while fanservice in anime reduces its value quite substantially (imo neway), the anime series that you mentioned are actually good quality shows. Kgne is a very touching drama that in no way exploits sexual references of any kind just to get ratings.
also, gantz and elfen lied are intentionally graphic and brutal in order to emphasise the seriousness of the story, and quite good ones at that... although the naked neko chicks in elfen lied are a bit iffy =p

Hentai Hentai Hentai.... *sighs* well if you didn't know, hentai sells. Its on a big demend lately. People want to see more sex in their anime's. Thus the reason for the age restrictions on them nowadays. but, im no perv or anything, i think that some hentai is cool now and then. it brings up the passion in the storyline.

lol I personaly have no problemb with them having random sex scenes in anime to make it seme more real or nething, its just that my parents are like eww he touched her!!! ewww and crap wich is realy anoying =-( neways im new so hi every1 ^.^ this is a gr8 topic and has entertained me for 10 or so minutes so thx every1 ^_^

Well there is only one problem with Anime that I find troubling...they dont put ratings on? I think >.> They could at least put a warning on the box or something...

Anime is growing in popularity so it has to appeal to all age/taste groups.
Hentai is still anime and age directions are there for a reason.
