wow that sux =S it was the exact opposite in my old highschool. people were trying to get into anime jes to be cool, and then u get all these anime noobies that hang around in groups talking about naruto really loudly, hoping that chicks might walk past and think they're "cool" lmaoQuote:

Anime Otaku might be the better word for it but again who cares. We all luv anime to bits and live for it. Dun care wut other ppl think abt u and jus live the way u wanna live ur life.

i don't think watching anime or reading manga make u a nerd.. its just the way that person is really, but if u see people that seem to just play around with those yu gi oh card things seriously, u can kinda see where ppl get the lable nerd from. all they do is play with the cards and fight over it, i feel kinda sorry for them.... but hey who am i to judge them.
I don't care if my friends or other people around me say BS about me liking anime, well i watch anime all the time and yeah i may consider myself as an otaku. I know that in some parts of USA stereotyping is really a problem, but hiding the fact that you like anime, i think it is kinda hard. Just be yourself and don't be afraid of saying aloud that you like anime, that's why we have freedom of speech in this blessed country known as USA.
