Thread: Coolest Anti-Heroes?

o___O;; "Anti-hero"...

Hmm...I'd have to say Mr. Kagami Mikage from the anime and manga of Ayashi No Ceres. Even though he "saves" the lives of decendants from celestial maidens.... it's all to do with his research. He isn't "saving them"... he is merely using them as his guinea pigs. He's not my favorite character at anything. I just couldn't think of anyone else.

Jusy for clarifacation, an Anti-Hero is someone who 'saves the day', or 'does the right thing', but does so for the own gains and/or is a mercenary of sorts.

My favourite has to be Alucard from Hellsing. In both the Anime and Manga, he seem to be the 'Good Guy', but is actually under the control of 'Sir Integra'; his Master; so is forced to do the his 'Good Deeds'. What I love about him is that he still has the steryotypical Vampiric traits such as Pride, Arrogance and Lust, but is still able to slaughter needlessly if his Orders Permit. Some Examples...

In the Anime, they catch a female newsreader filming Vampiric Attacks and posting them on the Net. Seeing as Shes dealing with the 'Underworld', she's been denied a fair trail and Alucard is left to 'Deal' with her. Rather than a nobel execution, she becomes a Midnight snack.

In the Manga, when Alucard, Seras and the Mongoose Mercs are in Brazil in thier first dealings with the Nazis, they are assaulted by the Brazilian SWAT teams under the orders of the Nazis. Sir Integra orders that Alucard kills any SWAT members that get in his way. Alucard then makes his way to the Ground Floor of the Hotel, slaughtering all in his way and showing no mercy. Before he emerges from the Hotel however, he throws several mutaleted SWAT members through the windows and Impales them on the Flagpoles. And he's supposed to be one of the 'Good Guys'?

Anyways... I also think on Alucard.... cos I think that in his very inside he is the most evil hero I have ever known... I think that if the things could depen on him.... he'd kill even those who do not need to be killed... He 'd kill'em just for the fun of it.... hmmmmm.... awesome....

My coolest anti hero would be,...hmmm either sephiroth or Itachi...
they are the coolest~!

@ RayMe: Sephiroth and Itachi are antagonists; not quite anti-heroes.


My current favorite anti-hero's probably Lelouch from Code Geass... because... geez, well, Lelouch is cool. Even when he messes up he still oozes that cool factor. As a trend, I find myself liking tragic anti-heroes like Lelouch for some reason (Yagami Light's another one, but he's pretty heartless, so I prefer Lelouch). Maybe it's because I'm emo and I feel for them. Maybe it's because they're tough and don't have sissified voice actors like Soichiroh Hoshi. *shrugs*

I think it's necessary to post the definition of an anti-hero because I think a lot of people will post antagonists.

Anti-hero: a protagonist who lacks the characteristics that would make him a hero (or her a heroine)

E.g.
The version of Hajime Saitō from the Rurouni Kenshin is a perfect example in this category.
He has no problem with acting outside the law as long as it serves his Aku Soku Zan creed. Furthermore Watsuki sensei made him look completely like a villain to make it clear that he's NOT your friendly neighborhood cop.

I'd have to say Kazuma from s-CRY-ed. To the end of the series he fought only for his beliefs and personal gain. He disobeys the "law" of the Lost Ground and opposed HOLY that enforces it til the end too.

lebasiara, do you feel ok? Your agreeing with me again Have you read the Hellsing Mangas cause they are far supirior to the Anime. I certinly recomend it.

I thought Sephiroth was a true Bad Guy? The whole derranged, destroying civilisation, mass murdering flaws are kinda hard to dismiss.
