Thread: Dark anime

Deathnote is really dark. Some anime doesnt really start out that way, but usually do. Like DN Angel for instance. I starts out really happy, but it kind of gets dark. Some of the snime like Shaman King, Alice 19 and claymore. (I know these are really poor examples. Sorry.) But I do have to agree that deathnote is really dark.

Black Cat has some pretty dark themes. I didn't get very far in the series after it got licensed, though.

Darker than BLACK recently came out, and I'm still unsure of who the protagonist is.

While the original anime isn't bad at all, you should be looking for the OVA episodes. 3 episodes have been released so far, they follow the original manga closely and are orgasmtasticly good.

I woudl agree totaly. Berserk is a pretty dark and gloomy anime. but that's just the censored version read the manga it's really dark. The main character, Gutts, is a real jerk with a huge sword, but then you see why he is. If your into more realistic dark, watch the anime. but if your into the dark fantasy, read the manga

Trinity Blood is pretty good, and so is Blood: The last vampire. In fact there's a Blood series that's to be aired on Adult Swim pretty soon.
