Thread: Digmon or Pokemon??

Pokemon is starting to get a bit dull. You think they would have stopped at 350 but nope, they just had to keep going. Now its hard to keep track of it all. Digimon is alright bcuz they keep it constant so...yeah Ill have to go with digimon

Pokemon, i choose you!

I loved both shows but i'm more into Pokemon. Both of these shows had a lot of heart in them, besides the monster theme, the evolutions, the kids, and the occasional cheesiness, i think both shows never had lots in common.

Digimon had an okay story, i love the gloomy feel of all the digimon shows. I don't think it's something that is kiddie or aimed for kids. It kinda feels like Bleach to me without the occasional gore and the above average degree of action. The monsters looked good enough for me but i find the evolutions too extreme and drastic. I mean, Patamon then suddenly Angemon? I find the evolutionary ladder of pokemon better coz u still see the advancement of the primitive characteristics of the specie rather than just suddenly turning into a large hulking monster. For me, the "digivolve" is more of a transformation, not a real evolution. Another thing i didn't like about digimon are the monster attacks and skills, a big sadistic looking bug like terimon doing a haduken-like maeuver is not appealing to me, most monsters there could've used a maneuver that will compliment their overall look.

On the other hand, Pokemon had lots of maneuvers and skills but it doesn't have a sense of uniqueness and it is too repetitive. The big factor of Pokemon for me are the monsters, even if they're evolved to their final forms you still get a sense of cuteness that was very relevant for the series. All the new monsters emerging nowadays might be merely aimed for commercial purposes to keep the milk flowing from the cash cow tho but as long as both sides(the fans and the guys behind pokemon) get what they want, it's all okay for me.


Let's face it, majority of the "mon" crowd are children but it doesn't make these shows stupid in my book. I don't find it shameful to watch these shows evein if most of their fans are about ten to fifteen years(in average) younger than me. The popularity may have waned but i think both shows have stood up to the test of time succesfully even with all the criticisms and the stereotypes given to 'em.

id totally choose pokemon ove digimon because digimon is about digital animals and creatures pokemon is about real animals and creatures and real is so much better than digital

I have watched and enjoyed both Digimon and Pokemon. Digimon was the first series i started watching then came Pokemon. Personally, i would pick Pokemon because they have the most awesome and coolest Pokemon called Mudkipz.

Yeah. But those "stupid" anime like Pokemon and Digimon, were watched by a majority of members on AO.
