There are very few female anime characters I like.
San from Princess Mononoke, for being both tough and emotional.
Deunan Knute from Appleseed and Appleseed: Ex Machina, for being plain cool, sexy and a great fighter.
And also, you may laugh but, the girls from Sailor Moon, for keeping their innocent naivity and hope even in the most desperate situations.
Recently i'm into tsundere character but haven't pick anyone favorite.
But Hoshino Ruri from Martian Successor Nadesico still would be my all-time. "Baka bakka" (a bunch of fools) is my favorite quote from her^^. Not to mention her coolness and intelligence, she's become captain of battleship Nadesico at her teenager age (15 y.o) in Nadesico the movie. She's also nicknamed "Electronic Fairy".

Also I found another female character I really liked, Karen from Code Geass. She was just awesome. Able to stand toe to toe with the best of Britannia's pilots and she was a total babe as well.
