well ,i like FF advent children just as you said the action is great within it and the storylines and characters designs aswell ,i like Sephiroth ,that's my opinion
which one did you like final fastay 7 avent children or Final Fantasy: Spirits Within i probably know the answer already and i think that almost everyone will say that their fav is avent children
of cus my fav is spirit within as it got all the cool huge spirits flying around and... well they are cool the damn huge spirits monsters

the spirit within was my favorite since
i think they killed FF7 with the gay look
they gave cloud and sephiroth but thats just
my opinon , and the plot was better for the spirits
with in as well.

but lets not forget that the ending of Spirits within sucked....well, OK the end of Advent children sucked too. well, heres my reasoning

just better becuase they didnt have
to redo a plot or rethink how to end

Advent Children; i just can't get enough sephiroth. it also sightly ties to Dirge of Cerberus,altough fights wern't as long as i'd like, they were action packed. Spirits just lacked square's flash w/ other FF games, Hell i thought FF 8 was better than Spirits
There are several things wrong with your assessment.
Not everyone dies at the end of Spirits within (Aki ross and Dr. Sid survive), but a good chunk of the main cast dies.
You can't really compare the two movies fight scenes. Advent Children's story line is action based, so its one fight after the next, while Spirit's within was narrative based, meaning the movie focus' on the story rather then action, which for me personally, is something I enjoy better because I'm a writer.
Final Fantasy The Spirits Within is still hailed for its realistic looking computer generated characters, and yes, while there have been advancements in computer animation since the films release (It was released in 2001, so things like the fluidity of motion, hair animation, and background detail are better), the characters are more closer to life like then in Advent Children.
And no offense, but Cloud had a "Family" as you put it, at the end of Video game, so your point is pretty much moot.
