GAINAX Studios was the first to set the precedent of producing a revised and enhanced anime release with their 'enhanced' release of the TV series 'Neon Genesis Evangelion' and the new and ongoing movie release of the story. Now it appears that Production I.G. is following the same path by releasing in July an enhanced version of the original 'Ghost in the Shell' movie with new re-recorded surround sound soundtrack, and CGI redone scenes on par with the more recent 'Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex' TV series...

Now the original release of 'Ghost in the Shell' (which was an International release, partially funded by Manga Entertainment) didn't actually do that well in Japan. But with the more recent success of the anime TV series, Production I.G. may have thought that now would be a good time to try releasing the movie again...

So, is the original 'Ghost in the Shell' worthy of a re-release. And who would be willing to purchase the DVD release of a 'renewed' version of an old (but classic) anime film???

I do like how they tried to make it match the Stand Alone Complex series more.

Agreed. And I'll watch it just because it's GITS. Aaand I also prefer Stand Alone Complex more, too. Plus it looks decently epic.

OH, and the before and after pictures link is broken.

But I'd certainly be willing to buy them. I'm a fan and if I thought it's worth it, then *shrug* why not. Maybe they'll do Stand Alone Complex next.

I know i will be checking this out when it finally comes out,and if it is really good i most likely will by it too added to my collection. I am liking the fact that they are trying to tie in all the GITS in to one story line. But as the first one to me was great in its own way,I am very interesting how this will looked compared to the older version and sounds.

Wow, I wouldn't even had know that G.I.T.S was making another movie, if I had not come across this thread. I would like to watch it, because I love S.A.C and I want to watch it as much as possible. Thanks for the info Len ^^
