Ghost in the shell & our world:
Do you think that Our world what many people call the real world, Do you think that some day we shall have what people have in the maga and the Anime "Ghost in the shell, for example like cyber brains and cyber bodies and become more depend on techonoly then we are ready are?
i think it isn't a question of "if" but "when" its only a matter of time before things at least similar to cyber-brains become reality. we as a civilization seem to become more dependant on technology every day as more and more advanced stuff comes out. i'm just waiting for a "Matrix" scenario.
thanks to zyta for the sick sig and avy!
I concur with fayt lingood. It is more so a matter of when. I have already seen the beginnings of human brain, cyber interfaces. Scary stuff in some aspects.
Grumble Grumble Grumble
If its a matter of time, then its going to be a very very long time... Modern Science still doesn't understand something as basic as how the human brain generates thought... This has to be understood first, before you can start talking about 'Artificial Intelligence'...

So it will be 100 years before we or rather the real world is like "Ghost in the shell"?
I'm not sure if this world would ever really be like the world in Ghost in the Shell. I mean there are a lot of ethical issues that we would have to overcome before we can really replace someone's mind with a cyber brains. I think that people would be a lot more accepting of cyber bodies- we already have non-organic heart valves and such, ne?
I have a feeling the time will come relatively soon. Not like within the next decade or so, but within the next century or two for sure. We've already got scientists working on robotic prosthetic (spelling?) limbs and Honda has been makin' robots for quite some time. I often joke that Honda will be the first company to release Tachikoma, LOL. Technology is advancing pretty quickly, I'm sure that it will benefit humans more so than it already is in the future. We'll be walkin' around the internet in no time.
