where I go we have a face to face gathering of anime fans in the form of a club. We talk about everything from Mangas to anime oriented games. do you think this is a good gathering that should be made into something available to schools, or should the members just stay hidden in the shadows?

I was the vice-president of my anime club at my trade school...
We got together every Saturday and watched anime, then talked about it... But mostly we just watched it. lol!
I say go for it. Just make sure you get anime that is appropriate for the environment. If it's a school, don't watch ecchi or violent anime. ((Try not to))
We showed Claymore, and our trade school was okay with it.
So communication is key. ^___^

it is about time that anime fans got out of the darkness.....u see it is hard to find people arround where i live that will admit to likeing anime and most are afriade about what others will say about it and that kinda sucks for me cuz yah im the only one that will openly admit it here where i live so something like that would be very nice ^^ and maby that way more people will join in

In places where anime is virtually unheard of, clubs can raise awareness and it could
contribute in raising the fanbase. You could never deny the fact that people will be mocking what they consider as taboo, so if you're clique can accept criticisms and mockery then go for it and step out of the shade.
In places where anime is greatly accepted you shouldn't have much of a problem.
Don't expect schools to recognize such clubs but yeah consider it a plus if your school does. Just make sure to meet their expectations.
I'm in arkansas, and our library is in the process of planning. Personally, I support anime clubs, mostly for the networking opportunities, but just be careful of situations like the below link

I think its a good idea i started one at my school because there was so many of us
so we asked the school. the school said yes so we have anime club at my old high school

Where I live there are several anime clubs. I belong to two it is a great way to meet people and exchange ideas on different anime series and manga. The club that I have belonged to the longest meets once a month and shows an evening of different series and movies anime of course.
