agreed. its rare to even get a conclusive ending. not to mention one thats happy or sad. most just end. all loose ends ignored.

I much prefer the happy endings. Sometimes, however, a movie/anime does it right and has both. It is the sad ending but one that leaves you with a sense of hopefulness as opposed to just pure sadness. Saving Private Ryan or StepMom are examples of movies that accomplish this in my opinion. Of course, let us not forget that most movies do not have a sad or happy ending, they just have plot resolution (like an action movie or a thinking movie). Those types of films can still be good even though they do not draw on the strongest emotions of happiness/sadness.

in my opinion it depends wn what the animae,tv show, movie, or whatever was about, fruits basket, that show, manga has a happy ending, but something like when the cicadas cry, that shit better have a sad ending, if it didnt end yet lol.

i like both, but most of the time i like sad endings because they seem to leave you in suspense

I just love Happy AND Sad endings.

Its sort of bitter sweet, depressing but confusing cuz its happy too.

Like Welcome to the NHK for example, it had a pretty good mix of
happy and sad.

As did Code Geass.

Does anyone get what i mean? XD

I would have to agree with both those who stated that it depended onthe story and those who are just glad to see an ending. I loved the series Dancougar, but the ending left a lot to bedesired. Conversely, the ending of Gundam (the original) fit the whole war theme.

I prefer Happy endings most of the time even when it's a very dramatic movie or anime. I can't stand sad endings, makes me think of it over and over. I know I'm weird, but sometimes I can't sleep when I get a bad ending of an anime I wanted to end differently <_<.

yes, it definitely depends, i mean deathnote had to have a sad ending, but utena was left me w/ confusing feelings, and then inuyasha was well..um..long
