Thread: Help me find a new anime to watch

Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya! XD is one of my favorites personally. I think you would enjoy it!

Not "mecha", but definitely serious: Ergo Proxy. You'll love it or hate it. And I found Serial Experiments Lain rather serious, almost philosophical. At least, it got me thinking more about the world around me.

Blue Gender gets panned a lot, but it's got some good mecha action. Falls somewhere in the middle-low of the "serious" scale, and features some fan service (not "family" material).
