Considering the success (or lack of) of recent Hollywood Manga/Anime adaptations, (e.g. 'Speed Racer', 'Dragonball Evolution') what are the chances of this Horror adaptation of this famous Japanese property of being successful???

Hey Len, don't you think it's funny they can make awesome American comic book movies, but most of the anime adaptations suck and fail?
Do they just put forth less effort, have a lower budget or pick the wrong stories?

(and I hope it has Ben Stiller as L and Owen Wilson as Light. XD. I kid, I kid)

Nah it not going to be good, My friend got the real life deathnote, the jap one and I did not like it at all, so the hollywood is no better than the origianl.

They should just leave the Live-action movies to the ones that are already out or at least wait a few years before releasing a new movie on it.
But the way Americans are going to portray it is going to be 10x different than the Japanese...so it might be a totally different stroy-line.
But who knows?
It might actually be really good. =D

um ok. this is gonna suck. why is it that when something popular comes out in japan, america has to remake it and run it down the drain. this sucks

People, people. We're getting ahead of ourselves here, aren't we? Just because its made in America doesn't mean it's going to suck. For all we know, It could turn out amazing. Or, failing that, at least decent.

Yes thats completely true, but im trying not to get my hopes up, since most japanese based movies that america makes are completely off from the original.
Although like you said it could be really good or even better.
I just hope the characters are portrayed correctly...-__-

i agree when america makes movies based off japanese anime they screw with the story and f!ck it all up. we could hope that they make it great but we know they wont they always f*ck it up.......
