kigurumi? yea! i think it's great!
yea, but im not exactly a fan of it...
kiguwha? im confused @_@
well, since it's been a while since i was here, i thought i'd take a little poll, as well as expand the size of a little sub-culture known as Kigurumi. for those who don't know, kigurumi is a form of cosplay which instead of a person just making a charater's outfit, they go an extra mile buy buying a skin colored bodysuit to wear underneath and a mask which looks JUST like the character. this form of cosplay is also called animegao. last time i was here, i think i asked if people knew about it, but now that im back(and more educated) i should not only be able to find out if anyone has heard about it, but also teach those who don't know about it in hopes of getting them interested in this unique and truely interesting form of art in cosplay. in a later post, after i've gotten some answers, i'll post links to some sites!
sure, i can share with you tons of info. even a couple places that sell masks. but, be warned, kigurumi isn't just something that can be done cassually. masks range in the hundreds of dollars, and there are even a few rules that anyone who want to "kig" for real has to follow. for example, "kiggers" never talk. also, they tend to keep their true identities a secret. here, this link can help clarify a lot more: Kigurumi FAQ so, kigurumi is really fun to see, but to actually do becomes the true challenge.but, if you truely enjoy kigurumi (like i do, even though i haven't got a chance to try it out yet.), that should neve be a problem. oh, and heres a few links to some sites:

now, this isn't even CLOSE to the number of links i have(somewhere in the range of 50+....and that isn't even all the sites out there :P) so, if enough people come requesting even more, i'll gladly oblige ^^
i'm still confused! what exactly is it? do ppl wear them at anime conventions?well, since it's been a while since i was here, i thought i'd take a little poll, as well as expand the size of a little sub-culture known as Kigurumi. for those who don't know, kigurumi is a form of cosplay which instead of a person just making a charater's outfit, they go an extra mile buy buying a skin colored bodysuit to wear underneath and a mask which looks JUST like the character. this form of cosplay is also called animegao. last time i was here, i think i asked if people knew about it, but now that im back(and more educated) i should not only be able to find out if anyone has heard about it, but also teach those who don't know about it in hopes of getting them interested in this unique and truely interesting form of art in cosplay. in a later post, after i've gotten some answers, i'll post links to some sites
IN THE END IT DOSENT EVEN MATTER
i never realy herd of it up intill now,so ppl really go as far as buying skin colored bodysuit to wear underneath and a mask to look like the character there dressing up as i guess some ppl really like it but i never have done cosplay before

...putting aside Hassun's comment.
Kigurumi doesnt limit to the "Anime gao" style of cosplay, which is just cosplaying and that you're wearing the head of the character with the costume. LOL. Kigurumi is...hmmm, how can I explain it? A full body costume....? Like the mascots at a theme park, thats "kigurumi", or the evil villans in shows like "Ultraman" or any of the "sentai" series (In the US I should refer to the Power Rangers series huh?)
...lets see, if anyone has ever seen the "Galaxy Angel" series then you'd know that Mint is into "kigurumi"....but thats not really explaining it...
....sorry that my "explanation" isnt that explanatory. m (_ _) m

hassun, EVERYTHING can become porn (unfortunately)
yea, kigurumi actually translates more accurately as animal costume full body suits, like mascot characters. but animegao style is commonly just called "kigurumi" in even japan, so i tend to go with the more common word used.
also, interesting fact i want to point out about the bodysuits: they are commonly made of materials similar to what is used in like swimsuits (i.e. waterproof) so that if you sweat (and you probably will in all that stuff), it won't be as likely to show, since the sweat will evaporate. which i really useful, since some "kiggers" will go to cons and be wearing all that all day (and one of the most popular cons for kigurumi to be seen at is wonderfestival, which is a pretty crowded con....i.e., lots of sweating most likely...)
