If you live in the US Canada DVD Region 1 market, your much better off getting the official Funimation release. Not only is the quality much better then the fansubs and counterfeit bootlegs, it has a professionally done English Dub, and by buying the official licensed products, your encouraging the US distributor and the original Japanese Studio to continue funding fine anime projects...
The 2 OVA episodes mentioned are actually the two 15 minute previews for Negima. Their talking about including them as extras in the DVD release. Funimation is also releasing Negima on a montly release schedual, so the entire series will be out in no time...

It's going to be a little difficult to compare 'Negima?!' with the Studio Xebec 'Mahou Sensei Negima' as the 2nd series has a story line that is completely independent from the original Manga story line...
And if you've seen the Official Funimation DVD release, you would find the DVD version has considerable cleanup on the character designs and background details over the original TV broadcast version...

Yes I read about it long time ago that they did redo the first 10 episodes for dvd release and had a new crew to continue the series. To honest it was still terrible, stopped midway because I couldn't take it.
reading the genre of this anime; magic, ecchi, romance, etc. it seems good. kinda reminds me of maburaho anime. does anyone suggest watching this anime?
ya btw Negima Season 2 is comming out either in the winter or fall.

Yeah Maburaho was really good. And I totally recommend Negima for those who love romantic/comedies
and magic.
