but what about the people who never look at the rateings >.< (myself and others...) and what about the people who do not care about them... just a little radical idea give everyone in the world id's and have little spie camera's on all of the mature manga books ^^ (hard to do but would solve the problem...) Well I will put it like this: can you imagine a six year old reading or watching Elfen Lied, Dead Note, Ayashi no Ceres? not to mention a lot more... or like len states: Hentai being watched or being read by little ones? There is a reason why there are age limitations. It is like the movies (if u want to see it that way) there are movies for every age. I don't see a child watching the Saw movies and not getting nightmares.... and heavens know what more....

ya I can see that happen... to think about it its scary now... Most 10 year olds watch those R rated movies >.< and if you look at the types of things on the internet that if you misspell one thing you could get into a sick and horrid web-sight. Well look at it this way you can read most mangas online now. So those little kids looking for there little manga series stumble apon one of these Hentai series... (I just find that scary...)

As far as I know ALL hentai anime/manga that are released in the US have an 18+ ONLY warning on them (albeit in some cases its in a rather small font tucked away in the corner of the back cover), some even have a "clean" edited DVD case cover so that anyone that picks it up wont see "un-censored" material (Unless they're old or imported items). Not to forget that in cases of most retailers they should be putting the products under their system as "Adult" merchandise and should be carding the buyer.

As for anything that is under 18+, then you guys make a point. Retailers are not required to card buyers for items with limits lower than 18+, which infact makes it possible for little kids to watch gory/suggestive animes like Elfen Lied. The same can be said for manga but in recent days most publishers would distribute "mature" manga in plastic...although it doesnt do a thing from little kids ripping it open in stores to read. *sigh* Retailers should be keeping an eye out for those things as if any child/teen opens the plastic packaging they (rather their parent) should be held liable.

In some cases once the starting credits roll, the anime reminds the viewers that they're watching adult material. Even the subbing team does it sometimes...It's not really a problem if someone unknowingly picks up adult material, if you're a well-bred person you'll return it rather than keep it. But in the end i agree that retailers are to be held liable...

I agree that 18+ anime and manga purchasers should be carded. Maybe even those with 13+ ratings. I was at a video store in mentor and the store clerk let a kid by Dragon Knight. I told told both the clerk and the parent/guardian what it was about and they meerely stated that since they didn't have to card, oh well. The parent/guardian also was not concerned simply because it wasn't labeled R.

Well, thats what I mean from my last post. Most people will get 18+ mangas/animes for minors, regardless of the warning that they get from people if not on the the cover of the item itself. Even though you gave the clerk and parent/guardian fair waring of the content, they both disregard it v.v It shows that most people do not care the warning that they get, even if it is not on the cover of the content.

For me i don't want to watch an anime that's for children "let's protect the world from the upcoming invasion using biscuits!!!" plus i don't want children to see violent animes as Hellsing Ultimate or Elfen lied or any hentai/porn ...

Not only this i have read in a psychology book that when a child is exposed before thay are ready to illicit stuff that can taumatized them parents can actually be sued and this is considered as a form of child abuse. if parents are not familiar with how some of the hentai series are and waht they are with out the labels on them they are well psychologically traumatizing their kids.

There should be warnings on some manga and anime because it may have content that is not right for younger readers. However parents should make it their business to know what their childern are reading and not depend on others to reglate what they read and watch.
