I think that alot of times the stroke of the pen and the emotion put behind it can be seen and that it makes a wonderful story(ex. GE999, FOTNS, MSG0079, etc) that much more involving because of the organic feel to the art that makes the work truly come to life. Modern anime has ways of doing this aswell, yet from what ive seen its just not to the magnitude of its predecessors.

I've never found anything particularly bad about the old animation... I liked Vampire Hunter D... although maybe earlier ones were meant. I often wonder about them, like Cutey Honey or the one with the black haired and red haired girl.

I actually did enjoy the older shows better such as astro boy, lupin the 3rd, Fist of the north star, Speed Racer, Dragon Ball(original, not Z), Robotech(macross), Dirty Pair, etc. The list could go on, but I do enjoy older anime more than I do with the newer series, although a few(ghost in the shell, Hellsing) have piqued my interest.

full metal alchemist was okay but ghost was a true classic,a beautifully animated movie/series with great plot and story line and well writen characters i think ghost in a shell is a good example of new age shows over old
