Thread: Are Most of the good animes short? and the horrid ones are long?

for me,not all long anime are horrid though...for example,dragon ball,i like this anime even though after a few series i got confused what to watch first...i don't know if people agree about this anime...well,this anime started even before i can speak fluently,if u know what i mean...haha
and sometimes they make it long is because of the fan request...

actuali the long ones , even though they can be a drag , are the good ones =D take naruto , higurashi and bleach for example

Horrid ones, for example are the long story animes like "Naruto, Bleach, and DBZ" - stuff like this, although they do have good story-lines cause they have to explain it otherwise it wouldn't be such a good anime today if it wasn't for the long story-line.

This is my theory of anime storys!!!

I think you're generalizing it a bit. Sometimes a series is cut short and other times a series should have ended 5 seasons ago- it depends on the plot and how the writers make a character relevant and the story going.

okay the longer ones can be annoying ....ive stopped watching shippuden naruto for that reason XP...naruto was much better =/

I think however long it takes to tell a good story is long enough. Pacing is a factor. If it's a highly complex anime where tons of subtext are packed in then I don't mind the pacing being slower, but if it's filler then forget it. Also, if it's one of those cases I simply enjoy watching it I'll mind less that if I just wanted to finish it to see what happens.

As a personal preference, I'm more of a fan of keeping it short and sweet than overdrawn and boring with filler. I actually have yet to finish a series that's over 150 episodes and doubt I will, because it's time and money consuming.

Yeah I'm not a fan of being strung along for a few hundred episodes either. I love Naruto but rarely watch cause its obvious it doesn't plan on ending anytime soon. I only watch when I hear about a good fight happening. (Naruto vs Pain, Sasuke vs Itachi) I don't mind filler episodes but enitre arcs are just frustrating and a waste of time.

I've always assumed the super long series like naruto,bleach,one piece, are just trying to milk all the possible money they can while people still like it.

Lots of great animes are longer, The Slayers is up to 5 series and 96 episodes (and a ton of movies) and is great. The problem w/long series can be bloat and episodes or even story lines w/no long term potential.

Macross is a great series of series, but some of the episodes and minor series drag down the show as a whole.
