    Question Raised Standard Syndrome

Have you ever watched series so good that you can't watch anything in that genre without feeling like its not good enough?
For example: I watched an awesome series awhile back called Gurren lagann. This series changed my whole view on mecha anime. Since then I haven't been able to watch anything else in the mecha genre since everything else pales in comparison.
A few other outstanding series have raised my standards: Death Note and Hajime no Ippo to name a couple.

i knew this thread was about tengen toppa gurren lagan even before i read what u posted. if your into mecha, try some evangelion, i watched it after ttgl and i wasnt disapointed.

i do know what your talking about though, that series was so awesome, i don't think i have found anything close to it. unfortunately its a double edged knife, i don't think you will find anything that is as good as ttgl for a while

I have this same problem with manga
and some movies. After I read Vassalord
(which was an awesome series by far)
I was skeptical about any type of manga
involving vampires. The only thing that I
think comes remotely close is Vampire Knight.
    So... I understand.

Yes I get like that with alot of things...
But oddly enough not so much with anime.
I think each anime has its own unique area no matter what.
But I do think that there are animes that cannot be surpassed, period.
By anything. (One of those being Death Note.)

I get more like that with Video Games.
If its a series, like FF, Persona, or the Tales Of series, I happen to always think the first one I ever played (or well, completed) will always be the best.
Although I do have my hopes set high for Final Fantasy Versus 13. =] Even though the first FF game I beat was FF7...-__-

Mediocre series won't entertain me anymore. I do appreciate the links since it won't be easy to find outstanding series after outstanding series.

P.S. Vampire Knight has yaoi written all over it

WAIT! It gets even better soon you will never watch anime with satisfaction again! Not just other mecha series, NO ANIME AT ALL. Seriously, once in a blue moon a "ok" series will come along but face it...you probably peaked, it will never be the same again.

And no, I am not joking.

What can you do about it? Quit altogether or just keep watching mediocre series until something comes alone that keeps you from loosing all hope...just to crush your every dream with a plot turn out of FAIL-ville.
