Yeah, definitely Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, and Fullmetal Alchemist. Also, I've become addicted to Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex and 2nd Gig. Those might not be for everybody, but definitely worth looking at. They come on Adult swim on saturday nights.
!Rurouni Kenshin TV and OVA (Adventures of a wandering samurai/ex samurai)
!Cowboy Bebop (epsodic adventures of ghetto a$$ bounty hunters)
!Getbackers (two dudes will retrieve anything you ask them to retrieve)
!School Rumble (comedy/a little romance between high school kids)
Suzumiya no Haruhi (sci-fi comedy of high school kids)
!Read or Die TV and OVA (adventures of 3 sisters who can use paper as weapons)
Honey and Clover (college students trying to find their reason in life)
!One Piece (Pirates, and Luffy who wants to become the Pirate King)
!Full Metal Panic (Undercover school boy who's actually a highly trained soldier)
Kimi ga Nozomu Eien (Typical love triangle between two girls and guy.. intense)
!Elfen Lied (Girls of serious mass destruction. Bloody.)
!Berserk (Medieval adventure. Watch Guts go crazy on his enemies.)
Hellsing (Vampires and slayers. Alucard will destroy.)
Full Moon wo Sagashite (A girl who has an illness, but aspires to become a singer
with the help of two angels)
Full Metal Alchamist (Two brothers, alchamists, who want to get to the bottom of things when tragedy strikes)
!Evangelion (Psychological adventure. The main character, a boy, trying to find his real meaning and struggling -- struggling -- through his everyday life.)
!Love Hina (2nd or 3rd year rounin finds his way to an all girls dorm. Things take off from there)
Genshiken (A bunch of otakus and the way they live their otaku lives)
!GTO (Great Teacher Onizuka) (Ex gang member becomes a teacher and saves his students from eminent doom)
!Golden Boy (Very perverse comedy. A 25 yr old ex Tokyo U student who travels and learns extremely fast)
Sorry for the piss poor explanations. Don't let them fool you. These anime I just listed are really good, if not some of the best. Just go to animenfo for better, much better, explanations.
Man omg I listed a grip, and yet there are still more that I'd recommend, just can't remember off the top of my head. I don't want to describe all of those anime, but go to animenfo to look them up. I also recommend looking at their top 200 list and just browse their website in general. Since you didn't specify for 2006 releases, they should have plenty of reviews to look at in the top 200. Also you might wanna google animetempy (although outdated and discontinued) for more reviews.
BTW, the anime titles with an exclamation preceding them... those are the ones I enjoyed most.
i would choose getbackers to tell about
Don't just post lists. When you recommend an anime, you have to give some information about it.Quote:

and neon genesis evangelion-semifuturistic story of children in giant mechs who battle an enemy known as angels
they are pretty good series some with better qualities than others but overall i think these are some stand-up series
Anyone know of one on that's both a romance and an action?
By the way I suggest Hellsing.
It's basicly what I am looking for...and action/romance with lots intense moments.
Uhm hmm... Have you seen Saikano? That's action/romance.Quote:
