A sad day for anime fans of {AS} Maybe

Adult Swim Loses Blood+ & Death Note, Hints at 3 New Anime

Late-night U.S. TV block indicates "goodies from last Tokyo visit" were bought

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Adult Swim, the late-night television programming block of Cartoon Network in the United States, has confirmed on early Monday morning that "we've lost the rights to Death Note and Blood+" in a status update of its anime titles. However, Adult Swim's onscreen bumper added, "We're just clearing house for goodies from our last Tokyo visit. We can't tell you anything yet, but we think we bought three series [maybe]."

Cartoon Network ended its televised run of Death Note by showing the anime's last five episodes in a row on early Sunday morning.

Adult Swim's Monday morning bumpers also noted that the Bleach anime series earned a rating of 341,000 among viewers 18-34 on Sunday, January 3 at 1:00 a.m. (The American television series King of the Hill had 376,000 on Saturday, January 2 at 10:30 p.m.)

Thanks to Starks for the news tip.

    Grumble Grumble Grumble

On the other hand, new Anime series can breath new life into Adult Swim... Something like the English dub of 'Sgt Frog' appears to be targeted for US broadcast... VIZ Media's 'Kekkaishi' and 'Inuyasha: The Final Act' are also possible candidates for US TV broadcast...

What is your take on SGT Frog and Kekkaish?, and inuyasha will finally having and ending because they left off at 167.

Why block Blood= on adult swim, I love their anime/manga shows.

    Grumble Grumble IMHO... Grumble Grumble

'Sgt Frog' has a US localized English Dub... (Personally, I'm against localized English dubs, but other reviewers have stated that its hilarious... On the other hand, the original Japanese requires advanced and extensive knowledge of Anime series, and Japanese culture in order to have a chance at understanding the jokes, so I understand why FUNimation localized the dub....)
FUNimation is already streaming both the Subtitled and Dubbed episodes...

I haven't seen 'Kekkaishi', but my younger brother liked the fansub. VIZ Media just recently started streaming this series on HULU...

And as far as 'Inuyasha' is concerned, I haven't seen the series, and with my current Anime backlog, its unlikely that I'm going to try such a monster length series... (It took long enough to finish 'Ranma 1/2'...) VIZ Media is suppose to be streaming this series from it's own website...

Simple fact They hate the anime fan based on their board and two they teo lazy to renew the anime rights to good shows, and they would like to turn {AS} in to a full comedy network, and leave the anime fans out in the cold..

I am on their boards so I should know.

Re: A sad day for anime fans of {AS} Maybe

According to a bump, adult swim may have bought the rights to three new series:

    Anime Status Update

    We lost the rights to

    Death Note and Blood+

    hang on

Don't rally and sign internet petitions

    We're just clearing house for

goodies from our last Tokyo visit

    We can't tell you

    anything yet.

    but we think we

    bought three series

    [maybe]
Two of them are probably Inuyasha: The Final Act and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. Who knows what the third could be.
