![]() Credits: 6,772 | Samurai Champloo hey, Hopefully you guys know one of the best samurai anime Samurai Champloo. I had seen a snipet of an episode once but t did not seem to be any good but i was at borders and decided to pick up t he manga and by the Second chapter my eyes were glued into it. Its storyline is great, being in search of a samurai that smells like Sunflowers. Well feel free to tell me anything you want about, Likes/dislikes Anything? Thanks Kurapika

Otaku | Re: Samurai Champloo It's good but in my humble opinion---not as good as most people thinks it is. I agree with you, the storyline is good but for me it was easily predictable...I already had a good guess about who the Sunflower Samurai was and i was correct eventually. I like that ogre-looking character tho, Oniwakamaru. Big sniveling abominations just spark my interests for some reasons...It's a pretty good thing that he had more character depth in him, he ain't the generic big sniveling abomination...I guess y'know what i mean if you have already seen him either in the manga or in the anime. I wanna ramble on with the whole plot but yeah i don't wanna spoil you and this is not the spoiler's section... What i liked about it? Like a usual Samurai-based show, it embodies Japanese history. It was unique in a way that it pieced traditional and modern stuff together....I mean you just gotta enjoy Mugen's capoeira-ish style. The animation is pretty crisp along with the art, that crispness is pretty normal considering that it spanned only 26 episodes. Oh, i forgot to mention that it was created by the renowned Shinchiro Watanabe...W/c is a good thing. But i've always had problems with his works....Refer to "Dislikes" Dislikes? This is completely preference-based. Its creator, Shinichiro Watanabe is the same guy that made Cowboy Bebop...and like Bebop, it didn't do so much of a connection with me. Besides all the good things i've said about it, it's just not a standout IMO. Something's just missin'...Y'know it's like one of those "that was a good show, so now let's get our lunch". Highly commendable but not memorable. Last edited by Hantei16; Apr 09, 2008 at 05:55 AM. Reason: add ups |

I don't think Watanabe swung and missed badly with it, some people did like it sooooo much after all. But then again, part of me agrees with this whole swung and missed thingie...All of Watanabe's works seems to have been swingin and missin' me, i just couldn't seem to like his work. I think Champloo appeals more to new fans, coz most of the people i know that think it's such a stellar show are new to anime. Older fans like me will most likely think that it's either on an average(i think it is) or crappy scale. Just like i said earlier, you sit down you watch it and then think about something else afterwards. It's just not one of those shows that sticks in your mind, well, it does as long as you're watching it...at least for me. I'll say it again, it's highly commendable but not memorable...Lots of shows are just waaay too much better, but i disagree that it's a show not worth watching...It's good enough to be an upstart show for new fans on the block...JUST new fans on the block. | |

But the story was at most just ok. And the flow of the show was way off... I enjoyed it but not a best ever for me.... Just a fun watch |
