    Samurai/Martial Arts Anime?

Okay, I've been trying to find some decent anime thats either Samurai or martial arts based. I've watched some of Tenjho Tenge, though I prefer readig the manga for that. Otherwise it was the Street Fighter movies, and so I want to see something thats going to makeme go 'wow'. Please help with my search.

Both sound choices, except Negima has been portrayed as a very 'childish' anime (at least in the UK) and has put me off it.

    Grumble Grumble Grumble

Generally, most of the 'Fighting High School' genre ('Real Bout High School', 'Ikki Tousen', 'Tenjho Tenge') once you remove the fight scenes and fanservcie, really don't have much of a story to them.

'Fighting Teenage Mutants' fare a little better as 's-CRY-ed' and 'GetBackers' actually have a decent story behind them, but others, such as "E's Otherwise' are otherwise forgettable.

And as far as 'Samurai dorama' goes, the only one that is really exceptional and widely acclaimed would be 'Rurouni Kenshin', as the second season easily ranks as one of the best anime stories ever made... 'Samurai 7' the SciFi remake of the classic Kurosawa film 'The Seven Samurai' is also an exceptional series (if you don't mind the SciFi atmosphere)

If you don't mind a little leeway in historical accuracy you could consider Samurai Champloo.
Other easily available series in that style are the immensely popular Naruto and Bleach. A little older but also readily available is Ninja Scroll.

Basilisk and Naruto are about ninja, not samurai. For samurai, watch Rurouni Kenshin. It's historical fiction - definitely worth a look.
