for anyone who hasn't heard the federal government shut down Megavideo a couple days ago now many websites that hosted free streaming anime lost alot of videos such as Justdubs.net
they lost most of their videos what do you guys think about it and what do you think of SOPA the bill which could ruin the internet effectively requiring all copyright to be obeyed which would means lots of websites online would loss material if not shut them down:mad::mad::mad:

Grumble Grumble Grumble
Though in reality, quite a few Anime Studios in Japan have shutdown and gone out of business because not enough people were paying for the Anime that they watch... (Even Studio GONZO, whos works were more aimed at a western market then most other studios has recently just stepped out of receivership, after having its parent company delisted from the Tokyo Stock Exchange for lack of performance...)
The Anime sites that were using Megaupload for Video streaming are technically 'stealing' the property, and driving the Anime industry out of business by their activities... And commercial distributors are now following... You can now kiss goodbye to any more English dubs coming from Bandai Entertainment, as they announced at the start of the year that they are closing down, as there is no longer enough money to be made selling Anime in the US market to justify the business... This follows other US companies such as Central Park Media and Pioneer Animation, which have already gone belly up for lack of sales...

So what your saying is that this is a self-fulfilling prophacy... TV channels will only put up more 'Adult' shows that are popular enough to sell advertising commercials for. And right now, the only way to judge if a genre is popular is by (gasp!!!) DVD sales.... Without DVD sales, what do you think the chances are (without corporate sponsership) of a late night anime series (which has very limited ratings in Japan) showing up on a US channel...
What makes this worse is that 4 to 5 years ago, a large number of Anime Studios made plans and financial projections based on the assumption that up to 60% of their gross income would be coming from the US market. Needless to say, these projections has turned out to be false hopes, much to the detriment of the future of the Anime industry...
