Re: Subbed or Dubbed: Which Do You Prefer?

I understand that completely Lich ^^ well it's just not the same when it's subbed.. most things in japanese that can not be changed into English can not be shown... troublesome and it makes the enjoyment to the anime not to the fullest... Plus... the subbed's voice actors are not as good as the original voice actors.. they are not that "original" and certain dubs are quite bad in quality in voice acting... I support subbed anime better ^^ I do not just get to learn japanese... i get to enjoy the voice acting and much other "concealed" things in the voice acting more..

Well... my conclusion... Subbed is better than Dubbed!

Re: Subbed or Dubbed: Which Do You Prefer?

let's see... I've discussed this with my friends hahaha. and majority of us chose... SUBBED!!!.. yeah boi!. hahaha I like it when i hear the original voices rather than the dubbed ones.... There are times the dubbers don't really suit the characters they dub o.o hahaha.. So SUBBED!!!!!!! hahaha.. (it helped me in my reading faster ^___^ wahahah)

i prefer the subs....because i like the sound of Japanese speech and sometimes the dubs really suck....and ruin the characters....

Re: Subbed or Dubbed: Which Do You Prefer?

I'll have to differ with others on this one -- I'd go for dubbed. Subtitles are fine so long as they're not half-baked, but regardless of translation quality, they've been a strain to my eyes somewhat these days.

As for dubbing, some English dub tracks are quite up to par and sometimes better than the original, (think Haruhi Suzumiya, FMA, Cowboy Bebop, R.O.D. the TV, etc., but especially Cowboy Bebop). But most importantly I suppose shelling out a couple bucks for DVDs with great dub tracks should help keep the industry afloat, especially considering what happened to Geneon in the United States.

Re: Subbed or Dubbed: Which Do You Prefer?

I'm watching Love Hina currently and i made a comparison and the subbed version won it completely ,not only too many lines were changed (as a the sentences used not the goal behind it) but also the voices intonation was very bad compared to the original japanese version.

Re: Subbed or Dubbed: Which Do You Prefer?

I have to agree with Lich on this one. A lot of the dubbed anime that I have seen the voices just dont fit the charters. Dont get me wrong I have seen some good dubbed anime but on the whole there are more bad than good.

Yup ,you're right ,Trigun is one of the good examples of good dubbed animes ,i compared it with the original japanese thing and the dubbed version was way too better ,even in the song of Rem which they changed its words into english unlike other animes (with success that is).

Re: Subbed or Dubbed: Which Do You Prefer?

i am more of a subbed kind of person. i enjoy listening to the original voices and language. and as most people have said, sometimes the dubbed voice does not fit the character.

So! starting to reverse your outlook on the subject a little now,eh? Glad you come to realize there are some anime out there that actually is great in English and will never be as good watching stubbs, like say BLACK LAGOON cant possibly be the same if you watched it subbed. The madness is just stripped away from it! I tried both since up to ep 12 its not available in english on Netflix. I got a subbed version to attempt to finish, and no wayyyy can I continue like that!
