i was reading anime insider their 50th issue.to celebrate they had a top 50 animes list. do u agree or disagree?why?

i agree with some but, cant believe they others, i think fullmetal should be in the 7.

Grumble Grumble Grumble

I take it that this is from the 'American' Anime fan viewpoint. Several of the series listed did not do well in their original Japan release. 'Samurai Champloo' during its first time TV showing was prematurely canceled after episode 17 due to poor ratings in its post-midnight time slot. 'Trigun' was also was not considered a successful series and actually did better in its US release, so much so that the 'Vash the Stampede' figurine was only sold in the US market, and not in Japan.

Also, if these series are the 'literature of anime', then why is 'Spirited Away', the only anime feature to take the Oscar for best Animation film missing from this list???

Seeing as it's from an American magazine, no wonder.
Most if not all of these series are licensed, and being the one to watch most of these, I disagree with the list completely.

FLCL??? The design, and art, was skeptical. I found it horrible. (choices may vary).

Cowboy Bebop?? Where a case is solved in 1-2 episodes, also found not to my tastes.
Jin-Roh???? Who picked this? It's almost like Akira if not worse. The story line drags, and in the end nothing good happens.
Just some odd emotional moments, other then that no story there.

Yeah there's even worse to say about the rest in my opinion.

So for me I disagree with this completely, and only one is Trigun that has my approval!

these are the only ones that i would have on the list form what u posted. granted a few of the ones i deleted were because i didn't know the anime, so if i deleted one that is actually deserving i am trusting that someone will inform me (and then i have something new to watch )

No, because you just have to have Naruto, Bleach or Death Note in the top 10! But then agin I'm just starting maga and I only know a couple of animes.

We've seen lots of top-top lists like this one and most of them are just plain opinionated crap without any factual information to back it up. Anyone can do his own top fifty list but just naming names isn't enough to construct a credible list. Big talk is cheap talk unless it's being backed up....

I think it's the worst top list i've seen in years, those shows were picked because they are the literature of anime? In my humble opinion it's really a pathetic criteria. For me in order to name the best you have to take note and consider a couple of things:

Innovation- How the anime brought something new and unique to the scene..

Influence and Inspiration- How the anime inspired and influenced would-be artists and fans

Aesthetics- An aesthetic breakdown of the anime

Commercial Success- How well the anime did in terms of sales, awards, ratings, etc.

Revolutionary Girl Utena? C'mon now...
Bebop on 1?? It's a big anime, but not in a colossal scale.
Now and Then, Here and There?? Good aesthetics, didn't do much in the other three that i've mentioned..

It's pretty funny that War in the Pocket made it in the list but the original MSG didn't. War of the pocket is my favorite in the Gundam franchise but i don't think it can outdo MSG in general.

out of all of them only one of them is in the top ten, dang number 29. The Place Promised in Our Early Days SHOULD be in the top ten that was one of the best movie ever. Grave of the firefly is one of the best studio ghibli movie ever and i CAN NOT BELIEVE this, it bull there is no Spirited Away in this list best movie ever
