But ... still ... why the fuhrer king Bradley gave him the name "Metal Alchemist" ? I think because his arm and leg are automails, and also because his alchemy is about changing the forms of objects ... just like the formation of metals ...

I think the "Full metal alchemist" name was given by the fuhrer to Ed because it's cooler than "Metal Alchemist" or "Steel Alchemist" ,that's all

i really just believe it's some kind of marketing gimmick, and if that's what it is, it works. the names totally cool, and here we are yammering about it like it's some JFK conspricy

im dont think it signifies anything other than the fact that he has automail
they might have decided to call him full metal because it sounds cooler than if he were called half metal or something

I think he is called full metal because of how he fights most the time he transmuts his automail into a sword and fights with that not to metion that he likes to transmute metal into wepons like the spear he uses at times.

yeah also if u rly pay attention to the anime he amost always makes metal weapons when he transmutes unless hes making some kind of wall to block attacks or something like that

Well, like someone said on here, a humunculos gave the name, so the FULL in Fullmetal Alchemist is a mystery. I DO know it came from Ed's arm and leg, but I really do believe that the reason it has FULL in it is because of Ed's stubborn personality. It's pretty hard to change his mind when he decided something, so mabye that's why he's called that.
