Edward FullMetal?????

Ok this is a simple question. Why is Ed (Edward) the FULL metal Alchemist when he is not all metal (Fullmetal)??? Ed only has an auto-mail arm and leg.His brother is all metal (Fullmetal) not him.

Furher King Bradley thought it was an approriate name considering the irony of Edward's automail ( his artificial arm and leg). this could also be a silent prank on Ed seeing as Alphonse is the one who is truly "full metal", and so the name would then be the cause many cases of mistaken identity Also State Alchemists could be named not for their appearance but for their achievments. Edward is small but strong and determined in an admirable way so: Full= completelyor soley and metal= strong or unbreakable.

i don't think Alphonse is a alchamist so the chief wouldn't know about him and if he did then since he's not going to be a alchamist and his brother is it does seem like a appropriate name. i mean ed does have more metal on his body than most alchamists.

Yeah but hes not FULL metal.Why not call him the Metal Alchemist.Why FULLmetal???

U need to c what Kisa Elric typed ta know da answer ta that. She's da one that called it. It was all answered after the state alchemist test that Ed had taken when he became a state alchemist.

well incase u have forgotton.... edward and his brother only have metal because they were trying to bring their mom back to life in the first place...... XD but if u alrdy knew that then.... i have no idea.

In Japanese, it is actually 'Steel Alchemist'. However, as the mangaka Hiromu Arakawa herself translated it to 'Full Metal', it is considered the official title. So, really, it's just a translation issue.

id assume that it was meant to be a joke. either by the fuhrer or whoever. but doesnt mustang even say, the fuhrer has like a strange sense of humor? to ed when he gets the name? anyway the name kicks butt. also you have to remember that Al never became a state alchemist so he wouldent get a name like that. also i wouldent watch the show if ed was like the half metal alchemist.

yes, this is another reason it is Fullmetal, for the sake of prople watching. Fullmetal sounds cool, so it works. but Roy Mustang is still cooler.
