I read tons of manga! I even have my own collection! I also watch a lot of anime too! I am from america. I also have started mt own "graphic novel" as every one else refers to it as!

I dissagree with that I'm live and was born in the USA and I read it all the time, I read them more then my own contreys books.

Well i guess not all of them dont like manga... some do,, i guess... but for me I loVe manga.. speacially anime..

Thats an interview with one of the upper heads at Viz, about their manga side.

They don't seem to be to bad as well, so if Americans don't read manga the few that do are buying tons of it. At least enough to keep the money makers happy.

People have a very biased view of Americans. A lot of us are smart and a lot of us do read manga, but it is really hard to get in America. The only place where I can get manga is at the bookstore at the mall or order online. Still it slightly popular here, at least half my school reads it.

...just nowhere near as many as in asian countries... and only those who are fans of anime... :P

Maybe it would be better to say "A whole lot of teenagers and college-aged American otaku read manga"... I don't think I've ever seen an American businessman on the train in mahattan cracking open a copy of Love Hina.

Compared to Japan: we read hardly any comics at all... American or otherwise.

I still think it has a lot to do with the cost and nature of our commutes. But on the whole, there is a prevailing perception in the United States that comic books are for children and fanboys. Most "normal" people don't read them.
