Re: Manga got you so sucked in?

There were several that sucked me in:

Love hina, good story line, lots of funny and the manga actually put a real finish on the story of the series

Ai Yori Aoshi: A way beyond awesome story, the art work was amazing and it actually made me care for the characters well being

Full Metal Panic: I actually prefer the Manga over the anime series, even though the English translation has only covered up to the end of first season of the show (And it included a good portion of Fumofuu as well). Can't wait till ADV gets up off its ass and finishes it.

Cardcaptor Sakura. What can I say, I read it on a dare from a friend, and I actually enjoyed it. The manga had a lot darker theme then the show (mostly because Nelvana mutilated the series). I really do believe that the women at clamp have a thing about inappropriate Child/Adult relationships...

There are others, but they are just too many to list here.

Also, for future reference:

If you ask for someones opinion, give your own first.

I completely disagree with you. The majority of all anime are based on their Manga Counter Parts, and will always have a more detailed storyline and actually take the story further.

One prime example of this is the anime "His and Her Circumstances". The anime only covers the first 7 volumes of the Manga, which is 21 volumes long. Do the math, Thats 14 volumes that are not covered by the anime.

There's also a lot of things that can be done in manga that can't be done on TV because of time constraints, censorship laws ect. that just don't exist for manga.

you can completely have the full expierence when reading the manga
Half the details arent in the anime..
I definitely Agree with Aceman67

Re: Manga got you so sucked in?

I just started reading manga and it is amazing. I don't know if it could take me from regular books like it did to Kurapika but it has definitely made me an insomniac. The mangas I have read are Bleach, Gantz, some Naruto, I started on Deathnote, and one chapter of a couple others. Those were YuYu hakusho, Hikaru No Go, and Gintama. I read a chapter of each of those and I am dying to start them. I try to read at least half of one manga before starting another and I am only up to Chapter 33 in Naruto even though in the anime I'm almost all caught up. So until I get at least up to chapter 150 in Naruto, I am not trying to start another one.

If any one has any suggestions of what manga I could read next that might interest me please give me suggestions because I love reading manga. I just don't know how to read japanese even though I want to learn how to speak it.

Re: Manga got you so sucked in?

I don't really read much, so when I do read it's usually Manga (outside of school books, that is) But i'm totally sucked into reading Death Note, I can't wait 'till I get Vol. 2-3 in a few days. I was also addicted to reading the Rurouni Kenshin manga for awhile. But after I watched the anime I got bored of it. (The anime put me to sleep, the music didn't fit the emotion, and the actors were boring IMO.)

Re: Manga got you so sucked in?

Once I got Berserk I couldnt let go of it till I read the last chapter that was out. It's certainly one of the best manga I've ever read and I can hardly wait for the new chapters to come out. But I wish Kentaro Miura wasnt taking sooo long to complete them and finally publish them...
