Well a few good ones that i didnt see mentioned that would be great for anyone to read, Slam Dunk - its about a no name high school basketball team and their rise to fame for lack of a better term and not wanting to give away alot.
Vagabond - is by the same mangaka as Slam Dunk and it is an adaptation of the life of Miyamoto Musashi. lots of action and amazing art.
Blade of the immortal - distributed by dark horse in the us. it is about a wandering samurai who is immortal and must kill 1000 evil doers to repent for past sins and regain his mortality.
Hokuto no Ken ( Fist of the Northstar) - this is a classic, straight up road warrior style setting and loaded with violence and a fun story.
Hunter X Hunter - about a boy named gon who goes off to become a hunter so that he can find his father who is said to be the greatest hunter ever. Good story, fair amount of violence, good humor, and wonderful characters

Pumpkin Scissors- a good light hearted military manga.

Dragon Ball- Not at all like Z, it is funny and a good plot.

Eyeshield 21- one of my favorites and I hate football.

Naruto- Moderatly good just don't touch the anime...one of the worst iv'e ever seen.

Oh, there's this one manga that I've been reading fo quite some time now.

It's called Shinshi Doumei Cross or The Gentlemen's Alliance.

It's a good manga. Try it.

I have a suggestion I haven't ever seen the manga but it's put out by MANGA it's the anime called KARAS!! I highly reccomend it... It's short but I like the idea too.

well their is so maney good monga's i cant list them all but out of the list i love here is some and why i like them:P
wolf rain: its a easy going adventurous people that turn into wolves they are on a quest to find a place called paradise and i like this because it has a nice setting of place they travel to and how they learned about some rare plants and most importanly that they're otheres like them woh can turn in wolve's.
fruits basket: a odd chain of events starting from a girl who ends up with no home and lost her mom she ends up realizing the ones she is with are from the exidoic and can turn into animal's. I like this one because of the fact they can turn into animals and how she unites thefamily making great peace.
fullmetal alchemist: its about a boy named al and his brother who start going on a long quest for the philosifers stone and face maney twists and turns along they're quest. i like this one because of the different alchemie spells used and how they grow as brother's:P
