There are lots of religious themed manga. They even have some Christian themed ones like Hellsing and Trinity Blood.

Hellsing and Trinity Blood are religious mangas I believe. They have already come up with original material! But yours is nice as well. And as Mitsu-O said, Neon Genesis Evangelion could pass as a religious manga as well.

    Grumble Grumble Grumble

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned the 'Chrono Crusade' Manga, as this is one of the obviously overt religious manga series...

I've heard of that one, Len...but never really got into it. I've only seen/read Trinity Blood, Hellsing, and Neon Genesis Evangelion. And those I know for sure are circled around religious aspects.

Well I was planning on nominating Chrono Crusade along with Hellsing. Both have strong aspects of Religon. (Nuns with Guns and Holy Lightsabers. Classic! )
*I'll get you yet you pesky kids*

I suppose it could be that Religon is a bit of a touchy subject.
A man may fight for many things: his country, his priciples, his freinds. But personally, I'd mud-wrestle my own mother for a Ton of cash, an amusing clock and a stack of french porn!

I want to see an anime show with Jesus in it. That would be freaking hilarious man.

Man, they should make a live action movie with those classic aspects.

actually it's not says so by the creator. it's just religiously inspired as a matter of fact and also the story mostly focus on a battle of good and evil scenario.

The other thing to keep in mind is that it would be difficult to write a Manga series based on the actual historical religious figures. Ignoring the religious issues of drawing a religious Manga about Mohamed, how could you copyright/trademark a character of 'Jesus'??? The closest thing your going to get would be a Manga/Anime series that are pseudo-based on religious figures, such as the Sci-Fi series 'Gilgamesh'...
